A Message to Swifties

In July 2020 I became a fan of Taylor Swift’s music when I ordered and listened to her masterpiece, “Folklore”.  Shortly after, she released “Evermore” and I became an official Swifty. I wanted to know more about this marvelous talent, so I researched and became aware that at various points in her professional and personal life, controversy emerged as elements of ridicule, shaming, misogyny, and other forms of disrespect. I felt the unfairness and felt compelled to address this. The poem “All Rise” is a tribute to this great artist.

Let us determine whether any truth can be found

In her confession she ascended into a professional discretion

Of self-expression that many have viewed as a transgression

15 years ago Taylor Swift began to build and pilot an ark of hope

Carrying the youth over a sea of cynicism that was

Drowning many lives just beginning to bloom” ……
